Do you want to vote for the councillors running for re-election in 2026?
Get Involved Guelph (GIG) is co-ordinating the preparation of report cards on selected votes of council over the last 4 years to help voters decide if they wish to re-elect incumbents (councillors already in office).
We’re asking local community organizations with expertise in a range of issues to review council decisions and highlight those that indicate the priorities and values that councilors used in making decisions on behalf of Guelph citizens.
Many council votes are unanimous and don’t show differences of views or priorities. Therefore, we based the council watch report card on issues where there were differences in how the councillors voted.
User’s guide to council watch report cards
- Each report was prepared by a community organization or an individual with expertise on the issue. The values expressed are those of the writers and not necessarily those of Get Involved Guelph.
- Each report provides:
- An introduction to orient the issue
- A description of the organization preparing the report and the values they apply
- Vote records, with green highlighting indicating that the councilor voted in support of the value on which the report is written
- A conclusion indicating the impact of the vote
- Background information to understand the context of the vote
- Supporting media and other relevant links for more in depth understanding
- Additional information will be available with the results of the GIG Community Candidate Survey, with results to be released September 14.
